Chic-ish Shack at Angola By the Bay

This is a house designed to feel less like a rental and more like a place you'll want to hang out. Warm wood paneling, an electric fireplace, and a mix of vintage and handmade touches: custom stained glass made by the homeowner, crocheted toys, living plants, a jade lamp, and a vintage turntable with a record collection to dig through. The newly remodeled bath has a jetted tub for relaxing.

Outside

The screened porch is the spot for morning coffee, an afternoon read, or an evening cocktail. When the day winds down, gather around the fire pit and enjoy the quiet of the surrounding woods.

Angola by the Bay is more than a place to stay , it's a community with a real connection to the coastal landscape around it and active conservation work to protect the shoreline.

Guest access

You'll have the entire house and fenced yard to yourselves, plus everything the community offers: (Note: The garage is off limits to guests)

-Large community pool (open seasonally , 2026 dates: weekends only 5/23-6/7, daily 6/13-9/7, weekends only 9/12-9/20. Hours 11am-7pm, with 10-11am reserved for lap swim.)

-Snack bar at the pool, weekends 12-3pm -Kids' playground -Marina with boat and kayak launch -Tennis, pickleball, basketball, and bocce courts -Softball field and volleyball net -Outdoor table tennis and tetherball -Walking and biking paths -Fishing and crabbing dock -Community picnic tables with outdoor grills -Fruit and veggie stand, Thursdays 3-5pm in the pool parking lot

Your days can be as adventurous - or as lazy - as you like. Farther afield: Lewes and Rehoboth (20 min), sunsets at Indian River Inlet, Coastal Wilds, Lavender Fields or ice cream at Hopkins Farm Creamery.

The Chic-ish Shack is our family's home when we're not hosting , the stained glass, the records, and the plants are all ours. We're not on site during your stay. We just love it when guests enjoy it the way we do.

Single-story home, no interior stairs. WiFi, central AC, washer/dryer, dishwasher, parking for 4 cars.

The top bunk has a guard rail and is best for kids six and up.

*Dogs at the beach

Delaware's guarded beaches and boardwalks don't allow dogs May 1-Sept 30, but parts of Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore have non-guarded stretches that are dog-friendly year-round. The community's own trails and docks are open to pups anytime.

*Bringing a boat?

There's a community boat ramp. Boats must be registered at the main office , $10 per day or $50 per week , and removed from the water each evening; you can park the trailer in the driveway. Let us know in advance and we'll send the registration paperwork. Kayaks have their own designated launch area, no fee.

*HOA agreement

Required before arrival, sent via DocuSign right after you book. Takes about two minutes.

*The community

There is a community speed limit in all areas of Angola by the Bay. The roads are shared with bikers, dog walkers and other pedestrians, so please drive slowly and safely.

Bikers should ride on the right side of the road (with traffic) Pedestrians should walk on the left side of the road (against traffic)

There are no trash bins at the docks or marina, please pack in and pack out
