The Mesquite Retreat is a 1917 Craftsman Style home that has been thoughtfully remodeled from the ground up to accommodate you and your guests with all the modern amenities guest expect to find.

We have fully renovated the home from the ground up to make it an open floor plan while keeping each bedroom space separate from one another. The floors are the original flooring installed in 1917. We were lucky the previous owners installed thick carpet to keep them in the best condition considering the age.

The master bedroom features a large walk in closet with an private master bathroom retreat designed to make you feel like you're visiting a spa. The full size bedroom behind the kitchen is next to a shared bathroom with a single vanity and large walk in shower.

The double bunk bedroom (which used to be the kitchen) is perfect for friends who want to share a room or 4 children. Couples could bunk up, but that is up to you and your guests!

Enjoy your favorite cable television shows or stream straight from the smart TV while cooking or eating your favorite meals with the open living, dining and kitchen space.

The back yard has ample space to enjoy your favorite game of corn hole or just sit and chill while cooling off in the cowboy pool.

Guests have full and private access to the property.

The Mesquite Retreat is located in Denver Heights just 2 blocks from the Alamo Dome, 4 blocks from Tower of Americas/Hemisfair Park, and less than a mile to the Riverwalk. You can almost always find an electric scooter or bike on any corner for easy access to all downtown has to offer.

Denver Heights in its prime was home to bustling intersections of small business, churches, a thriving arts and music community and charming residences. In the 1930s, W.H. Leonard’s Pharmacy on Pine Street was a neighborhood mainstay, as were Effie Taylor’s Café, St. Clair Beauty Salon and the jazz nightclub, Don’s Keyhole Club. The area’s rich history is a source of immense civic pride for modern day residents, who are working hard to ensure it isn’t lost to changing times. Some of my favorites places in the area where I have made so many memories are: Dakota Ice House Cherrity Bar St. Paul Square Sam's Burger Joint- Great Live Music Pearl Brewery (Especially on weekends during the farmers market or any holiday) Southtown King Williams District Hemisfair Park Blue Star Arts Complex Elsewhere Garden Bar and Kitchen Paramour (Sunday Drag Brunch is always entertaining, but make reservations) Friendly Spot Little Ems Oyster Bar (Sunday Brunch)

Parking is pretty easy around the downtown area, however The Mesquite Retreat has ample Uber Drivers if you just do not feel like walking. If you're adventurous and want to pick up an electric scooter or bike you can almost always guarantee you will find one within a block from your door step. Hop on and go anywhere your heart desires downtown! If you're only visiting while passing through, you are a few blocks away from the I-37 on ramp at Florida/Carolina St and/or Commerce St.

We only allow dogs for a fee of $90 for the first pet and $60 for the second pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed.

Pool will be filled and open from March through October.

Pool will be closed from November through February.
